Job summary

Masabi is seeking a Principal Engineer to join the Architecture team. The role balances deep technical execution with strategic leadership, shaping platform direction and hands-on delivery where it matters.

You will strengthen data architecture and guide architecture decisions across multiple teams, translating complex problems into practical, scalable solutions with a strong focus on performance and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong experience designing and evolving distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Experience operating at Principal or Staff level across multiple teams or domains.
• Comfortable staying hands-on in code, design and delivery when needed.
• Cloud platforms experience (AWS preferred) and modern infrastructure practices.
• Proven data architecture experience with data stores and pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Shape Masabi’s platform architecture with blueprint definition, standards and best practices.
• Shape data architecture and strategy, structuring and leveraging data across the platform.
• Design and deliver scalable, robust services aligned with the platform blueprint.
• Stay hands-on in code and technical delivery with reviews and contributions.
• Identify and resolve complex platform challenges related to scalability, performance and cost.
• Act as a senior technical advisor across engineering teams, guiding decisions and standards.
• Contribute to technical roadmap planning and prioritisation.
• Support RFP estimation and technical scoping for complex initiatives.
• Produce clear technical documentation and architecture artifacts.
• Improve how architecture is understood and applied across engineering and business.
• Contribute to architecture governance and API platform discussions.
