Job summary

Advancing Analytics is seeking a Principal Data Engineering Consultant to lead end-to-end data engineering initiatives from a remote UK base. You will work across multiple concurrent projects, leveraging Azure, Spark, and Python to deliver robust data platforms.

The role requires strong client consulting skills, deep cloud experience, and the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. Occasional visits to clients and teams are expected.

Qualifications

• Strong consulting experience with clients and requirements gathering
• Experience delivering end-to-end data engineering projects in Azure
• Solid understanding of OO development practices
• Background in ETL design focusing on data quality and observability
• Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies and SDLC

Responsibilities

• Microsoft Azure and cloud computing concepts
• Apache Spark – Databricks, Microsoft Fabric or another Spark engine
• Python – we build most of our solutions in Python
• SQL – writing complex high-performance queries, understanding how queries execute on different compute technologies
• Azure Data Factory or other cloud orchestration tools
• Azure Data Lake storage and Delta Lake
• Unity Catalog, Purview or other Data Governance tools
• IAC tool such as Terraform, Azure DevOps
