Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) Oxford seeks a highly motivated Scientist or Senior Scientist in Plant Metabolic Engineering to lead development of engineering strategies that optimize plant respiration, energy status and redox balance. This role will translate research into real-world and commercial solutions, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams within EIT.

You will drive iterative design-build-test-learn cycles, guide cell culture and whole-plant experiments, contribute to IP

Qualifications

• PhD in Plant Biology or related field.
• Experience in plant metabolic engineering.
• Experience in transient and stable genetic engineering in plants.
• Experience measuring respiration and energy metabolism in plant cells/tissues.

Responsibilities

• Design engineering strategies to manipulate plant respiration, energy status and redox balance.
• Quantify cellular respiration, energy status and redox balance in plant cells/tissues.
• Lead experiments in plant cell cultures and whole plants.
• Lead phenotyping using physiological, biochemical, imaging and multi-omics approaches.
• Apply iterative design-build-test-learn cycles to improve engineering strategies.
• Advance promising strategies into whole plants for validation.
