Job summary

VolkerFitzpatrick is seeking a Senior Planner for the Building Division in the Midlands region. The role involves driving pre-construction and construction delivery with projects from £1M to £100M across diverse sectors.

Based at our Midlands offices with regular site visits, you will be supported by a hybrid working arrangement and must hold a full UK driving licence. Experience with Asta Powerproject (P6 ideal) and knowledge of JCT/NEC contracts are preferred.

• Proven experience in construction planning within main contracting sector.

Responsibilities

• Develop and produce fully logic linked and integrated tender programmes covering design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover strategies.
• Visit sites regularly to provide hands-on planning support and resolve challenges.
• Monitor progress and identify risks early, ensuring proactive solutions are in place.
• Provide expert planning advice across multiple projects, influencing outcomes and driving excellence.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Planner in the Southern Region of our Building Division.

Location – Can be based at our offices in the Midlands area, with regular site visits and hybrid working available.

A full UK driving licence is essential.

As a Senior Planner in our Building Division, you’ll play a pivotal role in both the Pre-Construction and Construction Delivery teams, driving the success of projects ranging from £1M to £100M in Commercial, Education, Health & Life Sciences and Defence sectors

Your strategic insight and technical know-how will ensure that every programme is robust, regularly monitored and updated to suit the needs of each project.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this dynamic and influential role, you’ll be at the heart of project planning, ensuring programmes are realistic, achievable, and aligned with client expectations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop and produce fully logic linked and integrated ‘bid winning’ tender programmes comprising the design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover strategies that are compliant with tender requirements, design and chosen methodology without assistance.
• Visiting sites regularlyto provide hands-on planning support and resolve challenges.
• Monitoring progress and identifying risks early, ensuring proactive solutions are in place.
• Providing expert planning adviceacross multiple projects, influencing outcomes and driving excellence.

About you

• Bringproven experience in construction planningwithin the main contracting sector.
• Have a strong track record of working on tenders and live projectsvalued between£1M and £100M.
• Are highly proficient inAsta Powerprojectandideally with experience with P6.
• Possess an understanding ofJCT and NEC contract conditionsand their impact on planning.
• Have a construction related qualification.
• Are a confident communicator and strategic thinker, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
