Job summary

VolkerFitzpatrick, based in Hoddesdon, seeks a Senior Planner to drive pre-construction and delivery planning for projects from £1M to £100M in Industrial/Warehouse and Data Centre sectors. Hybrid working and site visits are included; a full UK driving licence is essential.

You will develop integrated tender programmes, monitor progress, and provide planning expertise across multiple projects, shaping client expectations and outcomes.

• Proven experience in construction planning within main contracting Build.
• Strong track record on tenders and live projects valued £1M–£100M.
• Proficient with Asta Powerproject; knowledge of P6 preferred.

We have a superb opportunity for a Senior Planner to join our Building Division.

Location - Based at our head office in Hoddesdon, with regular site visits and hybrid working available.

A full UK driving licence is essential.

As a Senior Planner in our Building Division, you'll play a pivotal role in both the Pre-Construction and Construction Delivery teams, driving the success of projects ranging from £1M to £100M in the Industrial/Warehouse and Data Centre sectors

Your strategic insight and technical know-how will ensure that every programme is robust, regularly monitored and updated to suit the needs of each project.

What You'll Be Doing

In this dynamic and influential role, you'll be at the heart of project planning, ensuring programmes are realistic, achievable, and aligned with client expectations. Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop and produce fully logic linked and integrated 'bid winning' tender programmes comprising the design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover strategies that are compliant with tender requirements, design and chosen methodology without assistance.
• Visiting sites regularly to provide hands-on planning support and resolve challenges.
• Monitoring progress and identifying risks early, ensuring proactive solutions are in place.
• Providing expert planning advice across multiple projects, influencing outcomes and driving excellence.

About you

• Bring proven experience in construction planning within the main contracting sector within Build.
• Have a strong track record of working on tenders and live projects valued between £1M and £100M.
• Are highly proficient in Asta Powerproject and ideally with experience with P6.
• Possess an understanding of JCT and NEC contract conditions and their impact on planning.
• Have a construction related qualification.
• Are a confident communicator and strategic thinker, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
