Job summary

Ballicom Limited is hiring a Senior PHP Developer to join our technology team in a hybrid role based in Coventry CV6 5SF. You will lead the development of scalable PHP-based web applications, collaborate on system architecture, and develop APIs to connect front-end and back-end services.

The role requires five+ years of software development experience, proficiency in PHP frameworks, front-end tech, MySQL, and RESTful APIs, plus strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of software development experience in e-commerce or similar.
• Extensive knowledge of PHP frameworks.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
• Strong MySQL database skills.
• Experience with RESTful APIs.
• Familiar with unit testing and SDLC practices.
• Knowledge of development tools including Visual Studio, Eclipse, GitHub, and Git.
• Familiar with microservices and containerization is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, able to work in diverse teams.
• Ability to work within a team of experienced developers.
• Bachelor's degree and fluent English; right to work in the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of scalable, secure PHP-based web applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design MVC and microservices architectures.
• Develop and integrate APIs for front-end and back-end communication.
• Optimize MySQL design and queries for performance.
• Implement front-end components with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Write unit tests and perform debugging to ensure code quality.
• Use Git for source code management and version control.
• Contribute to process improvements in development workflows.
