Job summary

NHS Professionals is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Higher Level to join the Pharmacy Department at East Kent Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves medicines management, dispensing, patient counselling and collaboration with ward staff in the Emergency Department across Ashford or Margate.

You will document allergies, review patients’ own medicines, support discharge planning, and ensure timely availability of medications while maintaining professional registrations and CPD

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science (or equivalent).
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Accredited in medicines management and accuracy checking pharmacy technician (ACPT).
• Experience with NHS systems (e.g., PAS, RIS) and Microsoft packages.

Responsibilities

• Dispense prescriptions when required, ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines.
• Assist with movement of medicines between wards, including controlled drugs, and handle returns/disposal.
• Provide medicines information and guidance to external organisations (GP surgeries, community pharmacies).
• Support training, mentoring and competency assessment of staff and students.
• Contribute to quality management, audits and SOPs within the pharmacy team.
• Maintain GPhC registration and participate in CPD activities.
