Job summary

NHS Professionals Limited is recruiting a Pharmacy Technician Higher Level to work across East Kent Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Ashford or Margate. You will dispense medications, verify prescriptions, manage ward drug movements, counsel patients, and support discharge planning within a busy ED setting.

The role requires UK registration with the GPhC, ACPT accreditation, and experience with NHS systems. Training, mentorship, and CPD are supported in a bank contract across multiple shifts.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science (or equivalent).
• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Accredited in medicines management and accuracy checking pharmacy technician (ACPT).
• Experience with NHS systems (e.g., PAS, RIS) and Microsoft packages.
• Desirable: hospital pharmacy experience or Medicines Optimisation Programme competence.

Responsibilities

• To dispense prescriptions when required, ensuring all medications are prepared accurately and in accordance with trust guidelines.
• To assist with the management and movement of medicines between wards, including controlled drugs.
• To provide medicines-related information and guidance to external healthcare organisations, such as GP surgeries and community pharmacies.
• To support the training, mentoring, and competency assessment of staff and pre-registration trainees.
• To contribute to quality management by reviewing procedures and participating in audits.
• To maintain professional registration and engage in CPD and mandatory training.

Education
