Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Pharmacy Technician within Dispensary Services to coordinate workflows for inpatients, outpatients and discharge medications, and to oversee daily dispensary operations. The role covers both the main dispensary and the cancer services satellite, with rotational evening, weekend and bank holiday shifts.

Current GPhC registration and accredited checking qualifications are required, with hospital pharmacy experience

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma or BTEC Level 3 with NVQ in Pharmacy Service Skills is required.
• Dispensing accuracy accreditation is required.
• Accredited Checking Technician qualification or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate workflow through the dispensary for inpatients, outpatients and discharge medication.
• Oversee the daily operation of the main dispensary against daily key performance indicators.
• Supervise training, health and safety, and stock management.
• Maintain waste management and reduce expired medication and stock losses.
• Ensure compliance with Controlled Drug regulations.
• Work across the main dispensary and the cancer services satellite.
• Act as a role model for the team.
