Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Lead Pharmacy Technician – Dispensary to lead the Dispensary team, coordinate daily operations, and support high-quality pharmacy services.

You will require GPhC registration as a Pharmacy Technician and ACT status, with strong leadership and communication skills. The post involves line management, staff development, and close collaboration with IT/Automation to optimise workflows and ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) status held.
• Experience leading a dispensary team or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day work of the Dispensary Team under guidance of Principal Technician.
• Prioritise workload and allocate staff across dispensary areas.
• Oversee dispensing of prescriptions including inpatient, outpatient, and discharge queries.
• Provide line management and staff development within the Dispensary Team.
• Maintain and improve dispensary procedures and QA standards.
• Support IT/Automation for Prescription Tracking System and robot maintenance.
