Job summary

John Radcliffe Hospital is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Technician to oversee the in-house dispensary, supporting inpatient, outpatient and discharge medicines. You will lead a team, manage recruitment and appraisals, and ensure safe, timely dispensing in a busy unit of around 35,000 items per month.

The role includes weekend rota duties and collaboration with automation/stock control specialists. Registration as a Pharmacy Technician and Accredited Technician Checker are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day dispensary service and meet KPIs
• Make informed decisions under pressure ensuring safety and timeliness
• Manage the dispensary team including recruitment, induction and training
• Conduct appraisals and handle performance or disciplinary processes
• Undertake risk assessments for dispensary processes
• Assist Operational Manager with incident investigations
• Write SOPs and service continuity plans
• Promote a health and safety culture in the dispensary
• Collaborate with Senior Pharmacy Technician for automation and stock control
• Cover weekend and bank holiday rotas, 1:6 weekends
