Job summary

Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust in London is seeking a Band 8A Senior Pharmacist in Medicine to deliver and develop high‑quality clinical pharmacy and medicines management services across Acute Medicine and related specialties.

You will work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, cost‑effective medicines use, support high‑cost drug processes, and supervise junior staff; prior Band 7 experience in Medicine is expected, with involvement in IVIg commissioning and guideline

Qualifications

Experience as Band 7 pharmacist in Medicine and related specialties.
Experience with high-cost drugs and writing drug reviews/guidelines.
Ability to work with nursing and medical staff at ward level.

Responsibilities

Act as a deputy for Principal Pharmacist when necessary.
Provide a high-quality clinical pharmacy service as part of the multi-disciplinary team to medical specialties patients, to ensure maximum efficacy, safety, and economic drug use and to demonstrate professional accountability to enhance patient care.
Act as a clinical role model, and support training and supervision of junior members of the pharmacy team
Development and implementation of clinical guidelines
Effective control of drug expenditure and management of processes regarding high-cost drugs
To support the commissioning and funding processes for intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) including adherence to the national NHSE commissioning policy and evaluation of evidence for use
To participate in audits and practice research
To work with the clinical risk team to minimise the risk of medicines
