Job summary

DATS Recruitment is seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join a Manchester-based pharmaceutical project on a 6‑month contract with potential extension. Hybrid work: 3 days in the office, 2 from home.

Candidate must have API manufacturing experience and be eligible to work in the UK; BPSS security clearance may be required. Roles include FEED and detailed design for a new facility focusing on API manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience delivering process design in the pharmaceutical sector.
• Experience in API manufacturing facilities and pharmaceutical plants.
• Experience supporting FEED and detailed design projects.
• Understanding GMP, process safety and HAZOP methodologies.
• Experience developing PFDs and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or support process engineering activities during detailed design phases.
• Produce and review deliverables: Basis of Design, PFDs, P&IDs, schedules, specs, reports.
• Support process safety activities including HAZOP studies and risk assessments.
• Develop technical specs for process equipment and packages.
• Support plant layout development and multidisciplinary design reviews.
• Participate in design reviews and constructability assessments.
