Job summary

DATS Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer for a Manchester-based role on a 6-month contract, with hybrid work (3 days in office, 2 from home). The project focuses on the detailed design of a new pharmaceutical facility in the life sciences sector, including API manufacturing and FEED support.

The role requires BPSS eligibility, no sponsorship, and experience in synthesis and purification, as well as PFDs/P&IDs, safety design, and process equipment specs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience delivering process design in the pharmaceutical sector.
• Experience supporting FEED and detailed design projects.
• Knowledge of GMP requirements and process safety practices.
• Ability to develop and review PFDs/P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or support process engineering activities during detailed design phases.
• Deliver process engineering work packages in line with project schedules and budgets.
• Produce and review deliverables: Basis of Design, PFDs, P&IDs, process schedules, equipment datasheets, utility data.
• Support process safety activities including HAZOP studies and risk assessments.
• Develop technical specifications for process equipment and packages.
• Support plant layout development and multidisciplinary design reviews.
• Participate in design reviews and constructability assessments.
