Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an ambitious Clinician Perfusion Manager to lead the Perfusion Service. The role covers strategic clinical leadership, workforce planning, and oversight of cardiopulmonary bypass and related technologies within the expanding cardiac surgery programme.

You will contribute to directorate planning, participate in on‑call and late duty rotas, and provide expert advice to multidisciplinary teams while driving quality improvement and clinical

Qualifications

• UK registration with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists is required.
• Experience leading a perfusion service.
• Expertise in cardiopulmonary bypass and mechanical circulatory support therapies.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership for the Perfusion Service.
• Deliver expert perfusion care for complex procedures and advanced support therapies.
• Act as senior clinical perfusion specialist supporting multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead development and review of clinical policies, protocols and evidence-based practice.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of perfusion equipment and resources.
• Participate in 24-hour on-call rota and maintain clinical role in routine and emergency services.
• Lead governance, audit, quality improvement, risk management and patient safety initiatives.
• Contribute to service planning and represent Perfusion at meetings.
• Line manage, appraise and develop staff, leading workforce planning and recruitment.
• Manage budgets, procurement and resource utilisation.
• Lead research, innovation and service development projects.
• Develop stakeholder relationships and ensure governance compliance.
• Investigate incidents and implement improvements.
