Job summary

Michael Page is recruiting for a Senior People Advisor to manage complex Employee Relations caseload within a large public sector organisation in Greater Manchester. The role provides expert advice and coaching to managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance matters, with a focus on lawful, fair processes during restructures and trade union consultations.

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing complex Employee Relations cases independently.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience advising and coaching managers on challenging people matters.
• Experience working in a unionised environment.
• Experience supporting restructures and organisational change.
• Ability to engage with Trade Unions and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied and complex Employee Relations caseload from initial advice through to resolution.
• Provide expert guidance on disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, conduct and performance matters.
• Advise and coach managers through complex ER processes and difficult employee conversations.
• Support investigations, formal hearings and appeals, ensuring processes are fair and legally compliant.
• Provide HR support across restructures, reorganisations and wider organisational change programmes.
• Support consultation processes and work effectively with Trade Unions and key stakeholders.
• Interpret HR policies and employment legislation to provide practical, risk-based advice.
• Identify ER trends and contribute to improvements across policies, processes and ways of working.
