Job summary

Lloyds Wealth in Leeds is recruiting a Senior Pension Administrator to help establish a new pension administration team. You will deliver SIPP administration, ensure HMRC/FCA compliance, and mentor colleagues to build expertise in drawdown and transfer rules.

The role requires 3–5 years in SIPP administration, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to train and lead others in a fast-paced wealth management environment.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of dedicated SIPP administration experience (accumulation and decumulation).
  • Qualified pensions/financial services qualifications are highly desirable (FA2, R04, Certificate in Life & Pensions, PMI).
  • Strong working knowledge of HMRC pension tax regimes (allowances, tax relief rules, lifetime/annual allowance protections).
  • Detailed understanding of drawdown mechanisms and transfer processes.

The role holder will collaborate with key stakeholders across Lloyds Wealth and our suppliers, work alongside the Client Services team to devise processes and controls whilst providing invaluable pension knowledge and expertise. They will support the delivery of a high-quality proposition that meets the evolving needs of our clients and business and assist the delivery of the strategic objectives of Lloyds Wealth, whilst observing a compliance and regulatory perspective. Location | Leeds Type | Permanent Salary | £40,824 - £44,906**Key Responsibilities*** Support the set-up and development of a pension administration team within Lloyds Wealth, understand and apply the risk management framework to support the end-to-end development of processes, governance and controls, ensuring that we consistently deliver good client outcomes and protect the business.* Administer the lifecycle of Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs) in accordance with HMRC guidelines and FCA regulations.* Apply technical pension background and experience to identify gaps in processes, drive improvement opportunities and support the implementation of solutions.* Decumulation & Benefits: Ability to calculate and process complex retirement benefit claims, including capped and flexi-access drawdown, Pension Commencement Lump Sums (PCLS), Uncrystallised Funds Pension Lump Sums (UFPLS), and sensitive death/divorce cases.* Technical Escalation: Act as the first line of support for internal queries, resolving technical problems and complex customer cases whilst providing coaching to other team members to build their technical knowledge and expertise* Industry Knowledge – Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes, market trends and best practice impacting UK wealth management and pension providers.* Mentoring & Training: Design and deliver training sessions to upskill the wider administration team on technical updates, system procedures, and industry best practices.**Qualifications & Skills**This role will suit an enthusiastic individual with experience in Pension Administration, ideally within wealth management.* Professional: Achievement of recognised pensions/financial services qualifications is highly desirable, such as: + CII (Chartered Insurance Institute): FA2 (Pensions Administration), R04 (Pensions & Retirement Planning), or Certificate in Life & Pensions. + PMI (Pensions Management Institute): Certificate/Diploma in Pensions Administrations* Pensions Background: Minimum 3–5 years of dedicated SIPP administration experience (handling both accumulation and decumulation phases).* Regulatory Expertise: Strong working knowledge of HMRC pension tax regimes (e.g. allowances, tax relief rules, lifetime/lump sum allowance transitional protections).* Product Knowledge: Detailed understanding of drawdown mechanisms, transfer processes (including Origo Options transfer systems), and standard/non-standard SIPP asset rules.* Attention to Detail: Absolute accuracy in data entry, benefit calculations, and the interpretation of complex legal/trust documentation.* Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical pension rules to non-technical clients.* Organisation: Time-management skills with the ability to prioritise competing, time-sensitive tasks in a fast-paced financial services environment.* Collaboration & Leadership: A supportive team player with a natural inclination for teaching, mentoring, and guiding colleagues.We understand not everyone will meet 100% of the requirements, however we encourage you to apply if you think your skills are a good fit for this role.This job vacancy may close earlier than the advertised date if a suitable candidate is found.
