Job summary

Portfolio Payroll Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to lead the monthly payroll cycle for a large, multi-entity group. You will act as the escalation point for complex queries and ensure compliance across tax, pensions, benefits and employment legislation.

The role involves supporting transformation and automation, while coaching the payroll team and collaborating with People, Finance and external partners to resolve payroll matters efficiently.

Qualifications

• Proven background managing complex or high-volume payrolls.
• Strong knowledge of pay, tax, pensions, and statutory requirements.
• Confident using iTrent, Sage and advanced Excel.
• Leadership experience with the ability to support and develop others.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading the monthly payroll cycle across a large, multi‑entity group
• Acting as the key escalation point for complex queries
• Ensuring full compliance across tax, pensions, benefits and employment legislation
• Supporting ongoing transformation, automation and process improvement activity
