Job summary

Portfolio Payroll Limited is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join a busy, supportive team and deliver accurate payroll and employee administration services. The role suits someone who enjoys problem-solving, detail orientation and providing excellent internal support.

You’ll handle payroll changes, maintain records, support onboarding and HR administration, and respond to queries while seeking efficient improvements in a fast-paced environment. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years' payroll or administrative experience.
  • Strong IT and systems skills.
  • Track record of delivering excellent customer service.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Payroll qualification (or working towards one) is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll changes including starters, leavers, contractual changes, absences, and statutory payments.
  • Support payroll accuracy through regular checks and reporting.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and HR administration.
  • Manage payroll-related records, reconciliations, pensions, and third-party payments.
  • Respond to payroll and employee queries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Identify and implement process improvements where possible.

Payroll Specialist
The Opportunity

Join a busy and supportive team where you'll play a key role in delivering accurate payroll and employee administration services. This is a fast-paced position suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, attention to detail, and providing excellent internal support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process payroll changes including starters, leavers, contractual changes, absences, and statutory payments.
  • Support payroll accuracy through regular checks and reporting.
  • Assist with employee onboarding and HR administration.
  • Manage payroll-related records, reconciliations, pensions, and third-party payments.
  • Respond to payroll and employee queries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Identify and implement process improvements where possible.
About You
  • Previous payroll administration experience, ideally within an in-house payroll or HR environment.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident communicator who can build relationships across the business.
  • Positive, proactive, and team-oriented approach.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and handling confidential information.
  • Payroll qualification (or working towards one) would be advantageous but is not essential.
