Job summary

EA First is partnering with an established national charity in Birmingham to recruit a Payroll Manager responsible for leading end-to-end payroll and ensuring accurate, on-time pay for staff. The role offers hybrid working and a salary of £42,000-£43,000 per year with strong focus on compliance with UK payroll laws.

The successful candidate will manage a payroll team, optimise processes, and collaborate with Finance, People and external providers to deliver a high-quality payroll service.

Qualifications

• Significant experience managing end-to-end payroll in a medium/large organisation.
• Strong knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance and HMRC reporting.
• Experience leading and developing a payroll team.
• Good working knowledge of payroll systems, including implementations or upgrades.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll process to ensure accurate, on-time pay.
• Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation, HMRC, pensions and reporting obligations.
• Develop and motivate the payroll team and set clear expectations.
• Oversee payroll reconciliations, pension administration and third-party payments.
• Improve payroll systems, controls and documented procedures.
