Job summary

EA First Compass House in Birmingham is seeking a Payroll & Pensions Officer on a 6-month fixed term contract. The role offers a salary between £29,000 - £34,000 per annum along with excellent benefits including hybrid working and a generous leave allowance.

The successful candidate will process monthly payroll, manage pension schemes, and ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation. Candidates should possess relevant qualifications and a strong background in payroll and pensions administration.

Qualifications

• Relevant payroll or pensions qualification (CIPP or equivalent).
• Significant experience within payroll and pensions administration.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, PAYE and RTI reporting.
• Understanding of employment tax and IR35 compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll activities ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Manage payroll reconciliations, audits, and year-end processes.
• Support administration of multiple pension schemes including defined benefit.
• Liaise with HR, Finance, and external pension providers.

Skills

Payroll or pensions qualification (CIPP or equivalent)

Experience in payroll and pensions administration

Knowledge of UK payroll legislation

Analytical skills

Communication and stakeholder management

Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
