Job summary

Third Space is seeking a Senior Payroll Manager to lead the payroll function across our luxury health club estate in London. You will act as the technical authority on payroll, tax and pensions, driving automation and replacing manual processes with scalable, auditable solutions.

You will partner with Finance and People teams to ensure accurate reporting and strong controls, guiding a high-performing payroll team.

Qualifications

• Significant UK payroll leadership experience in a multi-site/multi-entity organisation.
• Expert knowledge of UK payroll legislation and taxation (PAYE, NI, statutory payments).
• Experience managing complex/variable pay models (commissions, hourly-populations).
• Proven payroll transformation and process improvement using automation.
• Experience implementing or optimising HR/payroll systems and knowledge of pensions.
• CIPP qualification or equivalent with leadership and continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end payroll across all group entities with accurate, on-time payments and robust compliance.
• Act as the technical authority on payroll, tax and pensions, advising on PAYE, NI, and benefits.
• Lead transformation and automation of payroll, replacing manual processes with system-driven solutions.
• Own and optimise payroll and people systems, improving data integrity and controls.
• Collaborate with Finance and stakeholders on reporting, reconciliations and accruals.
• Develop the payroll team, embedding processes and service standards for scalable growth.
