Job summary

Cawley Studio in Deptford, London is seeking an experienced Pattern Cutter to join our small team. You will translate design concepts into technically resolved patterns, maintaining silhouette, proportion and fit across womenswear, menswear, bridal and special projects.

You will be involved from initial patterns and toiles through fittings, amendments and final production, collaborating closely with the founder and design team to ensure consistent quality and construction.

Qualifications

• Extensive pattern cutting experience in luxury fashion is required.
• Strong knowledge of pattern cutting, draping and garment construction.
• Clear understanding of fit, proportion and fabric interactions.
• Experience across dresses, shirts, trousers, tailoring and outerwear.
• Comfort with natural materials like cotton, linen, wool and silk.
• Ability to interpret design concepts into precise technical solutions.
• Experience taking garments from development to production.
• Excellent eye for detail, highly organized, able to work independently.
• Collaborative, practical and solution-focused mindset.
• Experience with leather, shearling, bridal or bespoke garments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop patterns from sketches and reference garments.
• Translate concepts into technically resolved garments preserving silhouette.
• Develop patterns through toiling, fittings and final production approval.
• Apply pattern-cutting techniques across multiple garment categories and fabrics.
• Collaborate with founder and design team during fittings to refine fit and construction.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges relating to fit and fabrication.
• Develop and refine existing patterns to ensure consistency across collections.
• Prepare production-ready patterns and communicate requirements to London teams.
• Support bridal, bespoke and special projects as needed.
• Manage pattern development against seasonal deadlines and schedules.
