Job summary

Empowering Learning Ltd is recruiting two experienced Learning Managers for a secondary school in Tameside. Start near 2 November 2026, running until Christmas with potential to continue longer. You will lead on pastoral support, manage student behaviour, and liaise with parents and SLT.

The role requires senior pastoral leadership background, including heads of year or SLT-level experience, and strong communication and organisational skills.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a senior pastoral role within a secondary school.
• Experience as Head of Year, senior pastoral leader, member of SLT or within an AP setting.
• Excellent behaviour management, communication and organisational skills.
• Confidence dealing with parents and managing challenging situations professionally.
• Ability to work independently, use initiative and make sound decisions.
• Proactive, reliable and professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead on pastoral support, student behaviour and the implementation of school expectations.
• Manage parental communication professionally and confidently, resolving concerns where possible.
• Uphold the school's behaviour and learning policies consistently.
• Support students with behavioural, pastoral and emotional needs.
• Undertake student supervision duties and support the day-to-day operational running of the school.
• Make confident decisions independently, escalating to senior leadership when appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider pastoral team to promote positive student outcomes.
