Job summary

Elderbrook School, part of Kedleston Group, is opening a brand-new primary provision and seeks a Senior Behaviour and Pastoral Support Worker to lead pupil engagement and wellbeing. This non-class-based role focuses on pastoral care, behaviour, and attendance across the school, not curriculum delivery.

You will work closely with staff, families, and external agencies to provide coordinated support, monitor outcomes, and safeguard pupils at every step.

Qualifications

• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
• Relevant training in behaviour, pastoral care, safeguarding or SEMH (desirable).
• Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school or educational setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or other needs (SEND, attendance).
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead on supporting pupil engagement, behaviour, and wellbeing, especially for pupils at risk of disengagement.
• Respond to behavioural incidents using restorative approaches and follow-up.
• Build positive relationships to support trust, inclusion and emotional wellbeing.
• Coordinate targeted interventions for pupils needing extra pastoral support.
• Plan and deliver individual and small-group strategies addressing behaviour, attendance and emotional needs.
• Monitor and analyse pupil data to inform support and whole-school approaches.
• Promote consistent behaviour standards and support during unstructured times.
• Collaborate with families and external agencies for coordinated support.
• Maintain records and contribute to pastoral planning and evaluation.
• Safeguard pupils at all times and adhere to safeguarding policies.
