Job summary

AtkinsRéalis PES is seeking a Principal Engineer for Overhead Lines to lead design projects from concept to detailed delivery, across the UK. The role requires delivering high‑quality engineering solutions, providing technical assurance, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient outcomes.

You will travel UK-wide, with hybrid working three days per week between travelling and office-based work at key locations, contributing to bid proposals and mentoring junior

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified civil or structural engineer with Master’s degree and Chartered status.
• Experience delivering FEED and detailed design for EHV OHL projects across 33–400 kV.
• Knowledge of UK design standards and transmission owner requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across OHL design projects, up to 400 kV.
• Support front-end and detailed design projects with technical assurance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in processes and practices.
• Build trusted relationships with clients, operations, project teams and partners.
• Contribute to bid proposals with cross-functional teams for compliant submissions.
• Support development of OHL engineering capability through mentoring and guidance.
• Monitor regulatory and technology developments affecting project delivery.
• Ensure safe, compliant delivery and resolve complex technical matters.
