Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Overhead Line (OHL) Design Engineer to join its growing transmission and distribution team in the UK. The role focuses on leading OHL design packages across multiple voltage levels, delivering high-quality, compliant outputs, and mentoring junior engineers.

You will work within multidisciplinary teams on major infrastructure projects including the Great Grid Partnership, shaping technical solutions and supporting project delivery to programme and budget while maintaining

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered or working towards chartership within 12 months.
• Proven experience in overhead line design in transmission and distribution.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead technical deliverables and contribute to project leadership.
• Experience in consultancy or major infrastructure projects is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead OHL design packages across voltage levels (33kV-400kV+).
• Prepare feasibility studies, design reports and technical documentation.
• Produce and review drawings, models and digital design outputs.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers within the team.
• Support project delivery to programme, budget and quality targets.
