Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Overhead Line (OHL) Design Engineer to join our UK transmission and distribution team. Lead feasibility, routing and design activities for 33kV-400kV+ schemes, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver compliant, high-quality outputs.

You will work across major infrastructure projects, including the Great Grid Partnership, contributing to continuous improvement and digital design approaches while ensuring delivery to programme and

Qualifications

Degree in engineering or equivalent.
Chartered engineer status or working towards within 12 months is preferred.
Experience in overhead line design for transmission and distribution projects.

Responsibilities

Lead OHL design packages across voltage levels (33kV-400kV+).
Prepare and check feasibility studies, design reports, and technical documentation.
Produce drawings, models and digital design outputs using CAD and related tools.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders for integrated design.
Support project delivery to programme, budget and quality requirements.
Provide mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to design reviews.
