Job summary
Arup is seeking a Senior Overhead Line (OHL) Design Engineer to join our transmission and distribution team in the UK. You will lead the design of OHL packages across 33kV-400kV+, routing, profiling, and calculations, while directing feasibility studies and technical documentation with multidisciplinary teams.
You will mentor junior engineers, deliver high-quality outputs, and contribute to digital design approaches.
Qualifications
- Degree in engineering or related discipline; Chartered or progressing toward chartership within 12 months.
- Proven experience in overhead line design for transmission and distribution projects.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills; capable of leading design delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead preparation and checking of feasibility studies, design reports, and technical documentation.
- Deliver and oversee detailed OHL design activities including routing, profiling, and design calculations.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to deliver integrated designs.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
