Job summary

Arup is recruiting a Senior Overhead Line (OHL) Design Engineer to join our growing transmission and distribution team in the UK. You will lead and deliver OHL design packages across voltage levels from 33kV to 400kV+, guiding junior engineers and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

You will contribute to technical solutions, review drawings and models, and ensure high-quality, compliant design outputs for major infrastructure projects such as the Great Grid Partnership.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered or working towards chartership within 12 months.
• Experience in overhead line design within transmission and distribution.
• Proven ability to lead design activities and deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and checking of feasibility studies, design reports and technical documentation.
• Deliver and oversee OHL design activities including routing, profiling and design calculations.
• Produce and review drawings and digital design outputs using CAD and specialist tools.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to deliver integrated design solutions.
• Support project deliverables to programme, budget and quality requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and digital design approaches.
