Job summary

Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join its forward‑thinking social care team in Barry. You will lead, influence and deliver person‑centred assessments and interventions to enable independent living at home and in the community.

The role covers complex moving and handling assessments, major adaptations, and specialist equipment provision, working within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Paid or voluntary work experience
• Successful fieldwork placement if being appointed to novice year post
• Ability to liaise with other agencies and disciplines
• Ability to recognise and accept professional boundaries and seek guidance when necessary
• Knowledge of the social model of disability
• Understanding of the legislative framework enabling social services to provide services
• Knowledge of effects of illness and disability
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to work independently and flexibly
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Good written and oral communication
• Computer literacy or willingness to develop needed computer skills
• A good general education
