Job summary

Holtec is seeking a Senior Nuclear Radiation Shielding Engineer to support SMR‑300 design, analysis, and licensing. The role involves creating radiation source terms, performing transport analyses, and optimizing shielding to meet ALARA goals.

You will document results, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to licensing documentation while collaborating with teams and regulatory bodies to ensure defensible radiological analyses.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to work under U.S. DOE 10 CFR Part 810 regulations.
• 10+ years of relevant experience with nuclear shielding or radiological analysis; advanced degrees provide alternatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop radiation source terms for normal operation, OA, and postulated accidents.
• Perform radiation transport analyses to evaluate dose rates in systems and structures.
• Design and optimize shielding to satisfy occupational exposure limits per ALARA.
• Contribute to licensing documentation and react to NRC RAIs with technical clarity.
• Mentor junior engineers and shape analysis documentation standards.
