Holtec in Almondsbury (Bristol Area), UK is seeking a Deterministic Safety Analysis (DSA) Engineer II to develop methods and perform analyses demonstrating SMR-300 safety and licensing conformance. The role covers AOOs, DBAs, and evaluating core and containment performance, with code development and V&V responsibilities.

The candidate will contribute to licensing documentation, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and ensure traceability and regulatory compliance per NQA-1, with relocation

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in nuclear or mechanical engineering from an accredited college
• Familiarity with thermal-hydraulic behavior of LWRs
• Familiarity with industry codes such as RELAP5, RETRAN, COBRA, VIPRE, GOTHIC
• At least 3 years’ experience developing/using codes and methods for LWR safety analyses
• Excellent technical writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810

Responsabilités

• Develop and perform deterministic safety analyses to demonstrate SMR-300 safety/licensing compliance
• Evaluate reactor behavior during AOOs and DBAs including thermal-hydraulic response, core performance and radiological consequences
• Analyze key plant systems such as reactor core, reactor coolant system, engineered safety features, and containment
• Support licensing documentation including safety analysis reports and regulatory inquiries
• Develop, maintain, and apply analytical methods and computer models used in safety analyses
• Perform verification and validation of analysis codes to ensure accuracy, reliability, and regulatory compliance
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate design inputs into safety evaluations
• Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation in accordance with NQA-1 standards
• Ensure analyses are traceable, reproducible, and compliant with regulatory requirements
