Job summary

Assystem UK Ltd is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support the design of complex thermal and fluid systems for the SMR project in the UK. You will generate analyses and calculations for Turbine Island designs and contribute to an internal centre of excellence for analysis methodology.

The role involves coordinating with suppliers, reviewing PFDs and P&IDs, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance across FEED to EPC delivery in a regulated nuclear environment. Hybrid work available.

Qualifications

• Experience in nuclear or regulated industries such as thermal power.
• Technical knowledge of steam turbines, condensers, feedwater heaters, pumps and piping.
• Experience from FEED to detailed design and EPC delivery.
• Procurement specs development and supplier liaison experience.
• Strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with UK HSE regulations, safety systems and HAZOP.

Responsibilities

• Ensure supplier deliverables meet requirements and challenge designs.
• Create and review PFDs, P&ID, layout drawings and sizing calculations.
• Develop and review functional and design requirements.
• Integrate Turbine Island design into the power plant.
• Serve as the go-to expert for Turbine Island interfaces.
• Support design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP, and safety compliance.
• Collaborate with safety teams on licensing and permitting.
