Allianz UK is seeking a Senior New Business Construction Underwriter to drive profitable growth by underwriting construction risks across new business and pricing within Allianz appetite. In a hybrid role, you will build broker relationships and contribute to strategy while mentoring colleagues.

Based in Birmingham or Bristol, the role requires strong negotiation skills and a proactive approach to identify new opportunities, with support from a wide underwriting team.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite construction risks across new business to meet growth and profitability targets.
• Assess and price risk in line with Allianz appetite and underwriting strategy.
• Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships through regular engagement.
• Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure sustainable business.
• Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities within the market.
• Contribute to regional underwriting strategy and key business initiatives.
• Provide support and guidance to colleagues on lower license levels, signing off referrals and working on quality assurance.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Claims, Operations, and Risk teams.
• Represent Allianz positively in the market, attending broker and client meetings.

Role Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our expert-led Allianz Commercial team as a Senior New Business Construction Underwriter, playing a key role in delivering profitable growth.

You will support the development of a world-class, multi-niche Insurance & Engineering offering, contributing to ambitious regional growth targets.

Location: This role is based in either our Birmingham or Bristol offices, please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that you attend the office 2-3 days per week, as well as meeting with brokers.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £60,000 per year.

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

• Underwrite construction risks across new business to meet growth and profitability targets
