Allianz UK is seeking a New Business Construction Underwriter to join our expert-led Commercial team in Manchester. The role is hybrid, with attendance in the Manchester office 2-3 days per week as part of delivering profitable growth.

You will underwrite construction risks, assess and price risk, and build strong broker relationships to secure sustainable business while contributing to regional underwriting strategy.

Qualifications

• Experience underwriting construction risks and related casualty/liability covers.
• Ability to assess and price risk in line with underwriting strategy.
• Strong broker/client relationship building and engagement.
• Excellent communication and negotiation with brokers to secure sustainable business.
• Demonstrated analytical thinking to evaluate complex risks and market conditions.

Responsibilities

Role Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our expert-led Allianz Commercial team as a New Business Construction Underwriter, playing a key role in delivering profitable growth. You will support the development of a world-class, multi-niche Insurance & Engineering offering, contributing to ambitious regional growth targets. Location: This role is based in our Manchester office, please note that this is a hybrid working role with the expectation that you attend the office 2-3 days per week.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £40,000 per year. Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

• Underwrite construction risks across new business to meet growth and profitability targets
• Assess and price risk in line with Allianz appetite and underwriting strategy
• Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships through regular engagement
• Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure sustainable business
• Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities within the market
• Contribute to regional underwriting strategy and key business initiatives
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Claims, Operations, and Risk teams
• Represent Allianz positively in the market, attending broker and client meetings

Essential Skills

• Experience in construction underwriting, including casualty/liability covers
• Strong ability to underwrite new business effectively
• Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with brokers and negotiating outcomes
• Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex risks and market conditions
