Job summary

King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Senior Speech and Language Therapist in the Neurorehabilitation Service at Orpington Hospital. The role is 22.5 hours per week, with supervision from the Clinical Lead SLT and opportunities to develop clinical, teaching, and managerial skills within adult neuro rehabilitation.

You will join a structured CPD program, lead on patient-centred goals, and contribute to service development within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• BSc or recognised postgraduate MSc or diploma in speech and language therapy.
• Registration with the Health Professions Council.
• Postgraduate training in communication disorders and aphasia therapy.
• Member of RCSLT.
• Supervision course.

Responsibilities

• Manage an autonomous caseload on neuro rehabilitation wards with assessment and therapy for acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
• Identify barriers to effective communication and implement feasible solutions.
• Introduce AAC and train patients, families and staff on its use.
• Coordinate and promote communication developments under supervision of a senior therapist.
• Deliver training on communication and swallowing to carers, relatives and staff.
• Attend ward rounds and MDT meetings and liaise with hospital and community teams.
