Job summary

Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6) to support adults with learning disabilities in the Greenwich community. You will join a multidisciplinary team delivering assessment, diagnosis and intervention and will have opportunities for professional development.

The role requires substantial experience in Adult Learning Disabilities and/or SEND, supervision duties, and the ability to coordinate care across teams.

Qualifications

• Professional Speech and Language Therapy Qualification.
• Member of R.C.S.L.T.
• Member of HCPC.
• Previous experience in Learning Disability in any clinical or support role.
• Knowledge of AAC systems.
• Knowledge of a range of assessment tools and therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group.
• Experience implementing SaLT therapy recommendations.
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team member and to co-ordinate/organise project work.
• Experience supervising others.

Responsibilities

• To manage own caseload of clients with Learning Disabilities and with communication and/or eating and drinking difficulties
• To line manage/clinically supervise SaLT Co-workers, SaLT Assistant and Specialist Support Workers as directed by Functional Team Manager and Professional Lead for ALD SaLT;
• To deliver high quality Speech and Language Therapy assessment, diagnosis and intervention to people with Learning Disabilities in partnership with their families/carers;
• To act as part of the multi-disciplinary Learning Disability teams and represent the Speech and Language Therapy Service at Team/Directorate meetings/working parties.
