Job summary

Ridgeway Academy is seeking a Senior Network Technician to join the ICT team, delivering 1st and 2nd line IT support to staff and students. The role ensures reliable operation of IT services across the school, including devices, accounts, printing and network infrastructure.

Based at Ridgeway Academy, you will work with a Trust-wide ICT team, supporting Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and security controls, with safeguarding duties for school IT systems.

Qualifications

• Windows 11 and Windows Server environments required.
• Google Workspace for Education administration knowledge beneficial.
• Microsoft 365 and Active Directory familiarity preferred.
• SCCM/Intune management experience desirable.
• Managed network infrastructure including switches, VLANs and TCP/IP.
• Experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting hardware and software.
• Printing and classroom technology familiarity.
• Cyber security principles: MFA, endpoint protection, patching.
• IT helpdesk processes and fault diagnosis skills.
• Safeguarding responsibilities related to school IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1st and 2nd line IT support to staff and students.
• Maintain devices, user accounts, printing and classroom technology.
• Support network infrastructure, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 across the Trust.

Senior Network Technician

Pay Scale: H6 (SCP 14 - 19 (£30,515 - £33,119)

Hours: 8.00am until 4.00pm (37 hours per week)

Weeks: 52 Weeks per year

Ridgeway Academy is part of the Ambition Education Trust (AET). A Senior IT Technician is required to join the ICT team at Ridgeway Academy, working full time (52 weeks) to provide 1st and 2nd line IT support to staff and students and support the reliable, secure and effective operation of IT services across the school. The role will include supporting and maintaining devices, user accounts, printing, network infrastructure, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and other Trust IT systems.

Whilst the position is based at Ridgeway Academy, you will work closely with a team of highly skilled ICT Technicians and Managers across the Trust and will support wider Trust IT projects and services as required.

Essential skills and experience include an understanding of:

• Windows 11 and Windows Server environments
• Google Workspace for Education and Chromebook/ChromeOS administration
• Microsoft 365, Active Directory and Group Policy
• SCCM/Endpoint Configuration Manager and/or Intune
• Managed network infrastructure, including switches, wireless, VLANs and TCP/IP
• Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of hardware and software
• Printing, classroom technology and associated IT services
• Cyber security principles, including MFA, endpoint protection, patching and access control
• IT support/helpdesk processes and effective fault diagnosis
• Safeguarding responsibilities relating to school IT systems, including filtering and monitoring

Experience of virtualisation, school MIS systems and technologies such as PaperCut, Paxton, CCTV, 3CX, filtering/monitoring platforms and managed network systems would also be advantageous.
