Job summary

Referment is partnering with a global financial technology business to hire a Senior Network Engineer to support highly available, business-critical infrastructure used across electronic trading and financial markets.

You will work across production, corporate and development networks, taking responsibility for day-to-day network operations while supporting infrastructure changes and wider engineering projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of network engineering experience in production environments.
• Experience with Juniper, Cisco and/or Arista equipment.
• Strong knowledge of BGP and OSPF.
• Subnetting, VLANs and NAT understanding.
• Experience configuring IPSec VPNs and GRE tunnels.
• Strong understanding of network security and firewalls.
• Data-centre experience including racking, cabling and patching.
• Ability to work with vendors and cross-functional teams.
• Experience with multicast networking is a plus.

You'll work across production, corporate and development networks, taking responsibility for day-to-day network operations while supporting infrastructure changes and wider engineering projects.

This is a hands-on position suited to someone with strong networking fundamentals and experience supporting demanding production environments where performance, resilience and availability are critical.

The Role

You’ll Be Responsible For

• Supporting business-critical production and development networks.
• Administering and maintaining network and security infrastructure.
• Troubleshooting complex network and connectivity issues.
• Installing, configuring and maintaining switches, routers and other network devices.
• Working with third-party vendors to resolve production issues and implement infrastructure changes.
• Supporting network changes and infrastructure projects.
• Maintaining routing, switching, VPN and firewall configurations.

What We're Looking For

You’ll Ideally Have

• 5+ years' network engineering experience within hosted, production or similarly demanding environments.
• Strong experience with Juniper, Cisco and/or Arista networking equipment.
• Strong knowledge of BGP and OSPF.
• Good understanding of subnetting, VLANs, VLAN tagging and NAT.
• Experience configuring IPSec VPNs and GRE tunnels.
• Strong understanding of network security.
• Experience working with firewalls such as Fortinet, Check Point, Juniper SRX or Cisco ASA.
• Hands-on data-centre experience including racking, cabling and patching.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Experience working with vendors and other technical teams.
• The ability to operate effectively within business-critical production environments.

Experience with multicast networking would be particularly valuable.

Exposure to InfiniBand, RoCE or other high-performance networking technologies would also be beneficial.

Previous experience within electronic trading, market data, exchanges, investment banking, hedge funds or other financial-markets technology environments would be particularly relevant.

This could suit a Senior Network Engineer, Network Engineer, Network Infrastructure Engineer, Trading Network Engineer or Network Operations Engineer looking to work with sophisticated financial-markets infrastructure.
