Job summary

National Grid plc seeks a Principal Network Engineer to design, implement and oversee resilient WAN/LAN/WLAN/SD‑WAN networks across the enterprise. You will create low‑level designs, set standards, and mentor a small team while aligning with SAFe Agile practices and automation initiatives.

The role requires 10+ years in enterprise networks, strong stakeholder engagement, and expertise in Cisco and Azure networking.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
10+ years of enterprise network engineering and architecture experience.
Azure AZ-700, Cisco DevNet, SAFe Agilist or similar certifications preferred.
Experience with network automation tools (Ansible, NetBrain, Python).

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain WAN, LAN, WLAN, and SD‑WAN infrastructure ensuring security and scalability.
Provide guidance on network architecture, upgrades, lifecycle management and emerging technologies.
Lead network projects and coordinate with stakeholders, vendors and teams to deliver on time and budget.
Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation and runbooks.
Stay current with industry trends and drive automation and resilience improvements.
Participate in agile ceremonies and manage work in Jira within SAFe framework.
