Job summary

Proton is seeking a software engineer to design, build, and evolve the sync SDK powering Proton Drive's desktop apps across Windows, macOS and Linux. You will own core internals, manage local and remote state, and collaborate with backend teams to enable secure, private data synchronization.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in .NET development for desktop or cross-platform apps.
• Strong knowledge of multithreading and concurrent programming.
• Experience with desktop applications is a plus.
• Familiarity with file systems and data management.
• Solid Git version control experience.
• Experience owning large software components and rollout strategies.
• Experience with monitoring, metrics and alerting frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain the sync SDK for Proton Drive desktop apps.
• Collaborate with backend engineers for cross-cutting features.
• Ensure scalable, secure internals and log/metrics streams free of PII.
• Improve test automation and delivery cadence.
• Participate in deployments, monitoring, and incident response.
