Job summary

Proton is looking for a senior Android engineer in our London office to build privacy-first products used by millions. You will ship Android experiences with Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and a Rust core, owning features from scoping through delivery.

Collaborating with product, design and engineers across Proton, you will help define high-quality mobile architectures, focus on performance and memory management, and mentor teammates while contributing to scalable, privacy-centered consumer products.

Responsibilities

Overview

Based in our London office, you'll join one of several high-impact product teams across Proton Drive, Payments and Account, helping build privacy-first products used by millions around the world. Whether it\'s encrypted cloud storage, secure account infrastructure, or the future of private financial tools, you\'ll work on technically ambitious products with real-world impact. As a senior engineer, you\'ll collaborate closely with product, design, and engineers across Proton to build and ship high-quality Android experiences using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and an increasingly shared Rust core. You\'ll take end-to-end ownership of your work and help define what "great" looks like for privacy-focused consumer products at scale.

• Understanding of mobile scalability, including caching, network usage, responsiveness, and offline behavior
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and contribute to product and technical discussions
• Experience with privacy, security, encryption, sync systems, or offline-first architectures is a strong plus
• Rust experience is a plus, but not required
