Job summary

Siemens Healthineers is seeking a Magnet Engineer/Senior/Principal to join our Magnet Technology team at a new Bicester facility, with initial placement at Eynsham. You will develop superconducting magnets for MRI systems and work across the full lifecycle from concept to delivery.

The role suits someone with strong physics background in electromagnetism, superconductivity, and experimental physics. Hybrid working is available, with three days onsite per week.

Qualifications

• Degree in Physics or related field; Master’s preferred for limited experience.
• Strong understanding of electromagnetism and applied/experimental physics.
• Knowledge of electromagnetic field theory and magnetic field measurement.
• Understanding of superconductivity and superconducting magnet principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed designs for superconducting magnets used in MRI systems.
• Apply electromagnetic theory and perform field calculations via analytical methods and FEA.
• Work hands-on with magnetic materials, superconducting wire, coil winding and impregnation processes.
• Support build and test activities, including magnetic field measurement and characterisation.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues, including quench behaviour and joints.
• Contribute to risk assessments and DFMA/FFMEA activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver manufacturable magnet solutions.
