Job summary

McCarthy Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Mobile Technically Competent Manager (TCM) to provide technical oversight across a portfolio of waste management sites in the UK. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, site support and strategic advisory work rather than day-to-day site management.

Ideal candidates will hold a Level 4 WAMITAB qualification and have experience in waste, landfill, quarrying or recycling sectors, with a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally,

Qualifications

• Level 4 WAMITAB qualification is essential.
• Previous experience as a Technical Competent Manager or Deputy TCM.
• Background in waste management, landfill, quarrying, recycling or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of Environmental Permits, EMS requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Willingness to travel nationally with occasional overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Provide Technical Competent Manager coverage across a portfolio of permitted sites.
• Support site teams in achieving and maintaining full permit compliance.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
• Ensure operations comply with Environmental Permits, management systems and regulatory requirements.
• Coach and support site management teams on waste acceptance, record keeping and operational standards.
• Assist with incident investigations, corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Review operational procedures and identify opportunities to improve compliance and efficiency.
• Support site managers during Environment Agency inspections and regulatory interactions.
• Maintain accurate TCM records and evidence of competence.
• Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture across the business.
