Job summary

OXFIDA seeks a Senior Machine Learning Scientist to take technical ownership of CODAS research tracks and drive privacy-preserving generative AI initiatives. You will shape experiments, mentor junior scientists, and collaborate with Oxford/UCLA partners to produce deployable AI components.

Role offers hybrid work (Oxford office preferred, remote possible for the right candidate) on an 18-month fixed-term contract with potential extension or permanent move as funding allows.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in CS/ML/Statistics/Math required.
• 5+ years in applied ML/AI research or development.
• Proven track record in privacy-preserving ML, generative AI, or federated learning.
• Strong Python engineering skills and ML lifecycle experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of CODAS research tracks, framing problems and validating results.
• Design and build ML approaches for privacy-preserving generative AI, including differential privacy and federated learning.
• Turn research into proof-of-concept systems and deployable components feeding programme deliverables.
• Publish papers, technical reports, and conference talks to showcase CODAS work.
• Mentor other ML scientists and research associates.
• Collaborate with partner organisations to understand real technical constraints.
