Job summary

Just Eat Takeaway.com is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to grow product recommendations and ML capabilities across the platform. You will collaborate with data scientists, product managers and backend engineers to bridge model development and production systems.

You will own end-to-end ML architecture, from data ingestion to real-time inference, and contribute to scalable, production-ready software with strong focus on reliability and monitoring.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python and strong software engineering principles applied to ML.
• Experience designing and operating ML systems in production with serving patterns (REST APIs, batch inference, event-driven).
• Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster) and cloud-native ML platforms (SageMaker, Vertex AI).
• Influence on infra and tooling decisions (build vs buy).
• Strong IaC (Terraform) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with SQL and distributed data processing for debugging data flows.
• Proactive mindset to automate processes and improve developer experience for Data Scientists.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Backend Engineers to bridge model development and production systems.
• Lead architectural design of end-to-end ML systems from data ingestion to real-time inference and monitoring.
• Transform prototypes into robust, scalable production software with ownership from discovery to production.
• Drive MLOps adoption (CI/CD for ML, model versioning, feature stores) for faster feedback.
• Communicate ML system complexities to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Build networks across Data and Engineering to ensure seamless integration with the platform.
• Lead projects, mentor peers, and advocate for engineering excellence in data science.
