We have an exciting opportunity for a SeniorMental Nurseto join our Mental Healthteam atHMP Leicester, acategory BPrison located inLeicester.

HMP Leicester is a Category B local prison holding men who are on remand as well as sentenced. It has an operational capacity of around 400. The prison is located in the City Centre and is a 15-minute walk from the station.

Hours

  • Monday - Sunday service 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday - Sunday 07:30 - 18:30 - various shift patters
  • 3 shifts one week and 4 shifts the following
  • 1 in 3 / 4 weekends on rota basis

Salary

This position is full time,you’ll receive an annual salary between £42094 - £47466per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As aSenior Mental Health Nurse,your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients’ mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic health care plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision to; Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.

  • Occupational Therapist or Social Worker -HCPC / NMC Registered
  • Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders in a multi-disciplinary environment

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
