Job summary

We invite applications for this exciting opportunity within the Obstetrics Department of Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust.
We seek ambitious, brave, and compassionate individuals eager to work in our Maternal Medicine team. The candidate should be able to deliver excellent clinical care, hone their clinical skills, and develop research interests in obstetric medicine. You will work alongside our reputed Consultant team, including Dr Victoria Hodgetts-Morton and Dr Ellen Knox.

Birmingham Women's Hospital has provided exceptional care to pregnant mothers for over 50 years. We are recognized regionally, nationally, and internationally for obstetric care and research. We employ a holistic approach to treatment. This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced O&G doctor with or completing higher specialty training in Obstetrics.

Main duties of the job

The department aims to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Maternal Medicine (ST 6-7 equivalent). The post can start as soon as possible for a duration of one year, with potential renewal. Responsibilities include 2-3 supervised sessions weekly in specialized areas, ward rounds, and antenatal clinics. The fellow will support the regular MDT and may work with the West Midlands Network.

The successful candidate will collaborate with local and regional teams, working closely with the lead obstetrician for the Maternal Medicine service. The weekly timetable is flexible; hours are full-time with on-call commitments on a 1 in 10 rota, banding 1B. Duties include clinics, delivery suite, ward rounds, and sessions in fetal medicine. Delivery suite duty is on a 3rd on-call basis, with ample supervision and training opportunities.
