Heriot-Watt University seeks a Mechanical Workshop Technician/Senior Technician to support teaching and research in the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences. You will work with a team operating CNC machinery, lathes, mills and 3D printers to design, build and repair precision equipment for projects and teaching labs.

The role requires 3–5 years post-apprenticeship experience, strong CAD skills, and a solid grasp of health and safety practices.

Qualificações

• SCQF Level 7-8 or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
• Completion of a mechanical workshop apprenticeship with 3-5 years post-qualification experience.
• Substantial CNC experience and CNC programming knowledge.

Responsabilidades

• Operate CNC milling machines, lathes and laser cutters with supervision.
• Support teaching and research by manufacturing components to high standards.
• Assist in training sessions for students on workshop safety and machine operation.
• Maintain and service workshop equipment and keep stock levels up to date.
• Record working time on job sheets and contribute to administrative tasks.
